I saw a union x0 for sale at a flea market in pa last year. Could've had it for the bargain price of $4500. Patrick leach had one last July or august as his tool of the month too for around that same price.
I never really understood the fascination with them. They are cute and would be neat on a shelf but I just don't see them as functioning tool.

Collectors.
I feel sorry for collectors except when I sell them something. My LOML has collected some things and it seems they often fall out of favor and lose much of their value. Better to be a "user".

I've seen them in so so shape go for more at auctions. Also seen them go for considerably less in very good shape. #1's are in the eye of the beholder. I can use a #2 like a block plane, 1's are just too little, agree if it can't be used I have no use for it.
