This plane sports a 1 15/16'' A2 blade, bedded at 50 degrees.  The sole is 9 1/4''.  It's made with Gabon Ebony.  It's an infill smoother that's... well... what you would expect.  Dense, comfortable, and a sweet performer.  $550 gets it to your door (within the US).

In a thread that popped up after one of Mateo's first posts, I mentioned that I didn't care much for modern look of his planes, preferring the "classic" appearance of, say, one of Ron B's masterpieces.  As you can see from the picture, my thinking has changed a bit.  (I'm almost-"almost" at the point of blocking his posts on my account in order to save myself some money and ratchet down the reaction of the local treasurer. LOL)

Fat chance!  His planes are gorgeous, impeccably made, solid, heavy, downright awe-inspiring,  and, of course, work amazingly well.  The words-"pry them out of my . . . " come to mind.  Mateo's accessible, responds quickly to questions, and ships immediately (doesn't hurt that we're not that far apart").

Buy one now--if you don't you'll be sorry a few years down the road when his work becomes better known.

I second that opinion.  I have two of his planes now and they are fantastic.
