I just finished a cherry desk for my 9 yo granddaughter.  She picked the design and color.

Cherry with Red Mahogany Transtint dye (4 parts) & Dark Walnut (1 part) mixed into shellac.  Lacquer topcoat.

I had not planned on the "feet" at the bottom of the legs, but the distance from floor to drawer was only 22" and I didn't think that was enough.  So I added the feet which added 3" height.  The feet slide onto the legs and are glued in place.

She loves it - but a 9 yo isn't too hard to impress.  The hutch doors slide to reveal any of the openings she wants.

Thanks for looking,

Joel
