while back i posted a table i am building
now i need hinges a type of but hinge
prefer a 3 inch x 3 inch fixed pin
i can find hundreds that size and fixed pin BUT
the problem i need a hinge that is flat one side
normal but hinges i find all have a slight offset at the pin roll part
in other words lay them flat on a board bench ETC and they rock at the pin area
any one seen that type of hinge that has the pin totally to one side ?
similar to a simple barn door hinge just not that shape
it is to hinge the leaf with out leaving a gap like a regular door hinge will
I think you want to search for a Flat Butt Hinge
Gary
thanks there are also broad but hinges
goggle searching FLAT BUT or BROAD BUT anything is a lesson in itself
maybe typing it in instead of saying OK goggle will be better
what i want is heavy duty hinge like a door hinge but flat on one side that seems more difficult
all flat hinges i have been able to find are what i call very light duty
Also, use the noun or verb of "butt" instead of the adverb (or other) of "but" when you search. The item is a "butt hinge".
GeeDub
i was using two tees in my search word
my tablet auto corrected to one t here
i just assumed the double t made the word banded
on woodnet looks like it is not
The offset that you are referring to is called a "Swage" See this website for more info;Click

thanks for that web sight
they show a side view of there hinges
what i am looking for is like a storm door hinge all the pin roll is on one side
they show it like you are saying
i did not realize how difficult a hinge could be a simple old door hinge would be great except it has the pin roll sort of centered
and does not lay flat
thank you oakey
Oakey,

Glad I could help. Sometimes locating the correct hardware seems to be the toughest part of a project.
