Really looks good Bandit!

Frank S in IA
Well, went to the shop, this morning...was looking at whether I needed to go out and BUY some hinges, or, did I have them on hand..

One pair was way to big, plain and beat up....the other pair?

Might just work...fancy box needs fancy hinges...Winkgrin

Was using the Stanley No.3, Type 11 to level the saw cuts..
[attachment=44584]
Had to keep checking for high spots...
[attachment=44585]
had that one corner to plane down...
[attachment=44586]
Somewhere, along the way...
[attachment=44587]
My Right Ring Finger found a sharp spot....

The dados for the divider needed opened up...
[attachment=44588]
Divider is just a slip fit, and can be removed, as needed...no glue needed.

Maybe later today, I can install the hinges?   We'll see.
Stay tunedWinkgrin
Paul Sellers "Keepsake Box" Episode No.4  "Hinges & Feet"...will be the next items to be done on this Project.   Then I can see what Episode No.5 is all about..
In the middle of loading the chip into the camera...PING!  Off to parts unknown...and, it was still full of pictures I needed to down load..grrrr

Ok...Hinges were installed, yesterday....no gaps...

Found a scroll blade for the bandsaw...IN the shop, BTW....so...cut out a bunch of parts ( 8!) to make 4 feet for the box.    each pair was mitered and glued together, and left to dry overnight....today, they were sanded smooth, cleaned up...then glued to the bottom of the box...
[attachment=44593]
And, you can even see the hinges!...still have to add a chain to the lid, and see about a finish, of some sort..Details?
[attachment=44594]
Nothing fancy...

Stay tuned.    Spent over 2 hours looking for that missing chip....had to go out and buy a new one...Grrrrrrr..
This morning's activities?   Well, feet got leveled so the box doesn't wobble...then a Thumbnail was carved...
[attachment=44600]
Chisel and a Dremel Sanding drum....then a chain was added to the lid...
[attachment=44601]
Then the entire insides were given a coat of Witch's Brew Stain..
[attachment=44602]
Then close the lid, and do the outside of the box..
[attachment=44603]
Top of the lid..
[attachment=44604]
Ends..
[attachment=44605]
And the hinge view..
[attachment=44606]
Along with the underside.   Letting this sit a day, or2....then a coat of clear gloss poly...maybe two?

Stay tuned...Winkgrin
Nice shape, pleasing to the eye.  Gauging by the mortise chisel and gents saw, is the box about 10" x 5"?

I do enjoy your builds...each and every one.
Box is 11-3/4" x 5-3/4" and stands about 5" tall...
[attachment=44619]
And NOW has it's 1st coat of Clear Gloss Poly drying...
[attachment=44620]
Waiting to see IF it will need a second coat....otherwise, this Project is done..
