Well, sometimes when it rains it pours.
Got a call from a sister in law, whose BF wanted me to know
about an estate sale an hour from here. Woodworking tools.
I had about convinced myself not to go, when he called me.
He lives a mile from the sale and would go over, find out prices
and send me pics.
Ahead of time, there were descriptions posted
and sent out to interested parties. So I had few interests on the
list, but, as I say, I had pretty much decided that I was not
going to go...
So, when he called with the offer, I gave him three things to look
at. A bit later, I got these pics.
First, is a Baldor 632e grinder/buffer mounted on a stand, with
new 'pink' wheels, and a One Way "Wolverine" grinding jig.
Thrown in was a brand new diamond wheel dresser.

There was also a pile of clamps. Nine Bessey K bodies. 48" (2),
36" (2), 30"(3), and 18" (2):
So, the prices were good to excellent. 175 for the grinder.
Clamps ranged a bit, so I offered 150 for all of them.
Done deal. That was Saturday. Yesterday, Sunday, they got
delivered to me. The clamps also included two half inch pony
pipe clamps on 48 inch pipe and three unknown brand red
pipe clamps on 24 and 30 inch pipe.
Cool.
But the weekend also brought a Craigslist find.
See what I mean about when it rains it pours?
Late seventies to early eighties Rockwell 14 inch bandsaw.
Good overall shape but neglected and will need a new
base. Table rust was the worst. It cleaned up in twenty
minutes. Existing base is missing eight inches off the bottom.
Who knows why. The castings are in GREAT shape
on this one. It was well cared for throughout most of its
life and only recently neglected. I can get her going easily.
200 bones.
Just thought I would share, especially now that the
certificate expiration fiasco is over until next time.

I know I might have missed it unless I begged my wife but that grinder is the cats meow and really a big steal.
I have to replace mine since it is getting to hot when turned on after a few minutes and I do not want it to catch fire.
That grinder must cost new over $900 so you got a big U Stink.

What made the clamp deal even sweeter on my end was
that the offer was for the Besseys. I did not mention the
others, but they got thrown in.

And on a side note, on the end of your lathe ways are two screws with a bunch of washers hanging on them.
What are they used for?

It looks like a storage on the end of the lathe for washers. Not sure why that would be needed/
I am curious about the modification to the Wolverine square rod including the screw with the washer soldered into the slot.

Been a week now and I am still grinning when I think of it.
First, those are not my pics, nor my shop, so I cannot answer what those
washers on the end of the lathe are for. While I have a wood lathe,
it is not usable at present, and likely won't be for years.
That pic was texted to me during the sale, an hours drive north of me.
Secondly and similarly, I have no idea what the square tube/rod is for.
It is something the PO made for some reason known only to him, is
my best guess. I will hang onto it for a bit. I looked at the website for
oneway/wolverine but no clue there either.
The clamps are a problem now. My clamp storage is woefully inadequate
after this experience. Talk about a first world problem...
