RE: Crazy home made tools - EricU - 11-12-2018 there is a forum for home made tools that anyone in their right mind would buy instead. Forget what it's called. Got pointed to it by pinterest when I made the mistake of clicking on a link to a home made compound miter saw out of morbid fascination. Of course, I have the parts to a wide belt sander in my room full of unfinished projects, so I have no room to talk. RE: Crazy home made tools - Paul K. Murphy - 11-12-2018 Crazy? I was going to build a drum sander using a treadmill motor and its rollers and parts of it's frame. Even had the digital display panel to adjust feed speed. Unfortunately I just never did find the time to build it and eventually got rid of the parts. RE: Crazy home made tools - EricU - 11-15-2018 I think I could build the sander if I put my mind to it. I have a suitable pneumatic cylinder for the tensioner/steering mech, pneumatic valves, drums for sander and feed belt, bearings, motors and drives. I'm sure I would have to buy something, but it's mostly just getting started. I probably will throw it all away or ebay it eventually. |
