Christmas light clips for eaves - MarkSingleton - 11-24-2018

[attachment=14550] Hey gang,

On the off chance someone here may know about these and
where I might find some.

Thus far, and I mean for the last several years, they are "out
of stock."

    I suspect no longer made.

Which is not good for my particular situation. I love being able to
stand on terra firma and hang lights with a pole.  Ladders and I do not
have a good relationship above eight or ten feet or so.... These clips
work on the end of a broomstick threaded pole, all the way to the
eaves on our second story.

There are other types, but these flat WORK, without drama, every
time. The others , and i have tried, are no good.

Nope.

Tried those , and , as they say , they are for "shingles and gutters."

And they don't work all that great for either.

I am looking for EAVES clips.   I have quite the collection of different kinds
of clips.

The ones I want, were (are) always much more highly rated than the
newer ones.

The search continues, while my supply of the old clips diminishes over time.

Sigh.

Roy I have seen those. I also have an earlier version which uses the broom
handle thread.

Both suffer from the same problem, at least for my application. The grip area
for the eaves is simply too small to hold.

Here is a picture I took just now to compare.

The clip on the left is the one I am searching for.

The one on the right is the
later version. Which apparently was manufactured with the idea that it would
work on eaves, shingles and gutters.  I have had very little luck with them.

The surface area of the grip ( that grasps the eave ) is twice as large at least,
on the old ( good ) ones.

Which makes all the difference in the world when you are installing a string
of lights on an eave that is twenty feet over your head.

I have enough to do my house.  For this year, and probably a few more. The
problem is, they are plastic. And they get sun damaged/tired  , and snap in two.
Broke three today hanging the lights(!)

I found this, not sure if it's the same style
https://www.walmart.com/ip/25ct-Eaves-Clips-for-Hanging-Christmas-Decorations-and-Lights-without-Using-a-Ladder/51472699
If it is,,use their info to track down the company.

Also,, search google using "string light eave clip"
And then click images,,not "all"

This is where walmart gets them...email them

if anyone here can find it that'd be great!

RE: Christmas light clips for eaves - greatscott - 11-26-2018

I'll chime in since I have experienced the same problem the past few years.  The company stopped making the screw-in style eave clips.  Why?  I have no idea.  I emailed the company last Christmas when I couldn't find them anywhere and got a response that the clips were discontinued.  I resorted to using the "no ladder" system that is being sold now but funny thing is, I have to use a ladder when installing them.  With the old screw in system, I could use my pool pole attached to a broom handle and reach the top of the eaves (it's probably 25' in height).  Now I have to use a 17' ladder and reach pretty high to get the no ladder clips in since you can't put an extension on the no ladder pole.

Thanks for your efforts, last year and today.

Just put our lights up yesterday.

The old clips work just fine. But, as I stated above,
I will run out of them one day as they slowly degrade'
over time.

Perhaps someone will take up the product and ramp
up production again. Doubtless the company holds onto
whatever rights to them though.

Long term, I may go with some kind of "hooks and pvc
pipe" arrangement for the ones that are really way up there.
