New compressors are shipped dry.I don't think moving it without draining the tank would destroy it.That being said if you move the compressor in your truck I would drain the oil first.I needed a new tank for a Quincy compressor as my old tank developed a pin hole leak.I bought a brand new compressor cheap that had been run dry,not a drop of oil.
The owner did not read the manual or check the oil before starting it up.I only needed the tank . I sold the motor, fly wheel pulley, belt etc for 4 times what I paid for the compressor.I had a Senco 2 tank hotdog compressor that I rarely used.I brought it over to the seller and gave it to him.At least he now has a compressor.
