RE: TV mounting issues - Woodenfish - 11-29-2016 TV's don't belong up above fireplace mantels. It destroys the beauty of both. RE: TV mounting issues - jamesglenn - 11-29-2016 Seeing the stone now I would do the following. Look for a TV mount similar to this which tilts down slightly and allows left to right adjustment. You can usually get the dimensioned drawings from the manufacturer prior to ordering. I did this for one similar to the linked one while framing above my mantle. http://www.sanus.com/en_US/products/mounts/lt25/ Use a few hanger bolts to place into the studs between mortar joints where possible (top row and bottom row) https://www.fastenal.com/products/details/0144733?r=~|categoryl1:"600000 Fasteners"|~ ~|categoryl2:"600001 Bolts"|~ ~|categoryl3:"600017 Hanger Bolts"|~ ~|sattr02:^3/8"-16$|~ ~|sattr03:^3-1/2"$|~ ~|sattr03:^8"$|~ Thread a nut and washer onto the hanger bolts to allow a piece of flat stock metal to stand off the stone just enough to clear. Attach a piece of flat stock metal (somewhat heavy to support the weight of your TV) at the top and bottom rows have predrilled holes for the mounting points of the TV wall mount. Add nut and washer to tightly secure the flat metal in place. Attach the wall mount with bolts and nuts. Attach the tv to the mount and slide to center. Paint the metal and hanger bolts black before installation. I am guessing you could use a pieces of wood or one large piece of plywood in place of the metal flat stock also, but they would be more bulky and cover the stone. I hope that makes some sense, as it seems to work out in my head just dandy. If you need more clarity, PM me and I could sketch something up. A picture is worth a thousand ...... Not super simple, but I think its least obtrusive and invasive to the stone. Of course, the hanger bolts may work with just the TV mount if you happen to get lucky with the mounting hole locations. Jimmy RE: TV mounting issues - bottd - 11-29-2016 After seeing the finished pictures my take would be leave it alone. Mount the TV somewhere else. Nice fireplace and mantle you have there. |
