Only USA made masking tape UL approved for BS wheels should be used.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Firstly, don't use urethane tires.  Get some real rubber tires.  PM me if you need a source.  Then put the Carter upper guide on it.  Great saw for small scroll saw type work.  Here is my 103.0103 which is one model earlier:

The older Craftsman band saws really were a great little saw. The wheels are indeed crowned. I am not going to get into the type of tire to get except to say it is 7/8ths wide and not 1" If you have room keep both  keep them both. It is easier to change band saws than band saw blades.
