Pin jaws too large and don't want to buy anything.  Thought I saw where someone made a type of compression chuck out of wood to hold small tenon~ any suggestions?

I have a harbor fright drill chuck, 1/2" MT2. It wasn't set up to use as a drawbar when I bought it. All it takes is a drill and tap and some hardware.
