Many years ago (probably more than 8 years) i use WO for slats on a bench that sits on my front porch and has lasted quite well. The porch isn't all that deep (maybe 5 - 6' deep) so it does get it's fair share of weather and faces to the east.

My experience with black cherry is it is very long lasting out doors
I have a lot of cherry in my 40 acre wood lot cherry trees that have fallen years ago stay solid sap wood rots fairly fast
But the heart wood is as long lasting as any of the white oak
I often cut up down cherry for my syrup,operation hard as a bone been on the ground at least 10 years or more
