I realize those lamps were the old ones, and the new ones have polarized plugs...to meet UL (or government, or California
Laugh ) standards. Good thing, based on the shock hazard of the screw in bulbs. But these I have in the track light are pin connections, reducing the shock potential.

Yeah, same with the little halogens with the bi-pin attachment and similar items.  Can’t get zapped since you can’t touch the pins while energized.  Not that you’d want to change a halogen bulb with the fixture energized, of course.
