In past, had garage doors with the pair of springs that were parallel with the tracks, vs the torsion style. One night, as the door was moving, one of the springs let go. I was *so* glad that upon buying the house, I took the inspectors advice and added a safety wire to the springs. Holy smokes, what a commotion. As it was, there were several coils of spring which exploded and reverberated around the garage. How they all missed both me and the corvette, is beyond me.
Those doors have since been totally replaced.
