RE: Favorite paring chisels - adamcherubini - 05-07-2021

Peter- I have strong opinions about chisels that, in my old age, have softened quite a bit. People use chisels very differently so I will never again say wrong or right, better or worse.

But in case you are interested: I have found thin, square sided pairing chisels to have the most utility. So Blue Spruce or something like it. I also prefer a handle with a wide butt that I can push with the palm of my hand. Early in my woodworking, I bought Hirsch/Kirschen chisels with the metal ferrules at the back. I didn't like their metric sizes and my use of them made my hands look like Padre Pio's. Steel quality is less important in a pairing chisel in my opinion.
