RE: Attaching Table Top - Gary G™ - 09-14-2023

Love your table—it’s beautiful.

I make wooden buttons.
It’s real easy and has never given me problems.

My method is similar to what’s in the picture in this link:

https://www.popularwoodworking.com/editors-blog/attaching-a-table-top-with-traditional-wooden-buttons

My buttons are made like the ones shown here:
https://www.woodmagazine.com/woodworking-how-to/joinery/4-ways-to-attach-tabletops#:~:text=Create%20a%20slot%20in%20each,a%20chisel%20or%20small%20file.&text=To%20install%20the%20buttons%2C%20cut,the%20tongues%20on%20the%20blocks.

However, I make a slot in the aprons as wide as necessary for expansion rather than slotting the whole thing.

Thus, it’s a combination of techniques from both approaches and I believe it’s the better solution.

Thanks for the links Gary.  That's what I've used in the past.  I think it works well.
