Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - BloomingtonMike - 10-05-2015 Yep. Corn is out all around me and I felt the burn on the neck riding to work on the motorcycle last week between the jacket and the helmet. Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - BloomingtonMike - 10-05-2015 Tonight's progress. Rest of radiant panel built. Pretty nice copy of the HydroShark radiant panel only with nicer pumps and a ton cheaper. Now I will mount the hot water heater and plumb up the pex to these AMAZING Watts Quick Fit connectors. They are soo nice! Pricey but made the install a million times easier. Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - packerguy® - 10-06-2015 This going to be in a utility closet? Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - BloomingtonMike - 10-06-2015 No closets and no rooms in the shop. May do a panel around it. It is a sealed closed loop system but I will keep as much dust away as I can. One guy covered his in diamond plate and it was sweet. Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - Martin S. - 10-06-2015 Mike, your shop looks great. The next time I visit my sister, I'll have to get together with you and Kaga. You mentioned something in an electrical post about double thick plywood. What made you decide to make your walls double thick? For the cold? Maybe I misunderstood? Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - packerguy® - 10-06-2015 BloomingtonMike said: I would enclose it just out of ascetics. That and I would hate to have something fall into it, and crack a pipe or the manifold. Even building out 12" and having a full size "door". Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - BloomingtonMike - 10-06-2015 Tonight I mounted the boiler and ran the 3/4" pex to it from the panel components. Also ran 1" pex to the 9 loop manifolds that go too and from the floor. Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - tomsteve - 10-07-2015 if i havent said it before this is the most awesome build threads ive followed. i think there should be a huge woodnet shop warming party upon completion. Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - closed for business - 10-07-2015 Can you give an idea of coat per square foot for the radiant piping? And the equipment to operate it? Im looking towards pouring concrete next year or so, and want to do a 24x30 garage. Re: The new Mikiespace - 40X64X16 Pole Barn - BloomingtonMike - 10-07-2015 I actually started a bill of materials spreadsheet for the radiant panel components. That will give an idea of the cost. For me there was not a simple way to heat 2560sq with 16' trusses and no finshing crew. I know it will take me awhile to do everything. Garagejournal was my source for builds that had done radiant flor so I copied folks there. If you know you are pouring next year start hoarding 2" xps extruded poly styrene foam now - high density preferred 25psii. Search your craigslists every day. That stuff is 30 to 35 a sheet new. You want that under your slab and along any footings you might have. I found deals on it and it saved a bunch of money. Your boiler choice and how to power it will impact either up front or monthly costs. Even if you dont or cant fund radiant heat day one insulate and get pex in the floor. You cant add those later easily. The boiler and panel you canbuy or build later. , The overwhelming agreement is radiant heat is the most comfortable heat. |
