I have an older Unisaw that doesn't have a riving knife option. I've been considering the Shark Guard for it. Any drawbacks to it? RE: Opportunity Wont Knock Twice - ®smpr_fi_mac® - 10-30-2018 No drawbacks that I know of, but I don't know how the one on the Uni mounts. The one for the 66 only takes a few seconds to loosen/tighten with a 9/16" (I think) wrench. I've been considering the Shark Guard for it. Any drawbacks to it? Years ago when Delta was still stocking parts, there was a splitter/kickback pauls combination piece sold with the overhead guard system for unisaws. An old codger woodworker in NC gave me the tip to get it, and I did. Can't remember the part number (20 years ago) but it fit right in and was locked down by the existing knurled knob. My saw is the "Great White" edition from the late 90s. Perhaps if you poke around it can be found, back then it was $30 with shipping. Not a riving knife, but certainly prevents kickback quite well, I put it on religiously when ripping. Edit: this is the part I have: https://www.ereplacementparts.com/splitter-assy-complete-p-1308746.html?osCsid=7f1jn3jv3o6mntetkckjifis72 https://www.mmtoolparts.com/store/porter-cable-splitter-assy-cmplte-1349941s |
