RE: Stanley No. 1 - Elite160 - 12-11-2018 I've been seeing an old Stanley No 2 on Craiglist near me for $140. What's one of them worth? I've seen them in antique shops from between $250 and $400 depending on condition. $400 was a corrugated. I think $140 would be worth looking at, and maybe buying. RE: Stanley No. 1 - Martin S. - 12-11-2018 OK, I can't stand it, I'll take it. Bob, I'd like to buy a blade from you, send me a PM. RE: Stanley No. 1 - fredhargis - 12-11-2018 Thank God! Now I don't have to fret about it. RE: Stanley No. 1 - Elite160 - 12-11-2018 Not to hijack the thread. This is the plane in question. Not sure why I'd have need for a No. 2. https://greenbay.craigslist.org/atq/d/stanley-2-plane/6756239492.html RE: Stanley No. 1 - med-one - 12-11-2018 Wow, check out the business end of the plane blade. Looks as if he tried to make it a scrub plane. RE: Stanley No. 1 - Elite160 - 12-11-2018 Yeah I saw that too and thought the same thing. Very curved looking iron. Wasn't sure that's what it was at first. RE: Stanley No. 1 - Stwood_ - 12-11-2018 (12-11-2018, 01:53 PM)fredhargis Wrote: Thank God! Now I don't have to fret about it. You can also quit drumming your fingers on the desk. RE: Stanley No. 1 - Snipe Hunter - 12-11-2018 Happy to see this go to a woodnetter. RE: Stanley No. 1 - toolmiser - 12-11-2018 Glad someone else picked this up. I just couldn't get the nerve up to spend that kind of money on myself right before Christmas. I got a few things on Cyber Monday (Lee Valley), my first tool from Woodpeckers (small square), and though I would like a No 1, I didn't want the consequences. I thought about saying it was a present for the kids. I've even thought about one of the reproduction ones, but if I go that route, it would have to be something that would retain value. |
