Been doing more reading. Apparently, ATT U-verse is more complicated than others...BUT, I can buy a Mesh network capable extender from ATT for only $40 so I think that is what I will do...only a little more than other extenders, but as I understand it, mesh network doesn't create a second wifi network that I have to switch to at that end of the house.
