Wow.  I paid a couple of bucks each for 12 footers, but that was more than 10 years ago, and I got them at a local drywall supply house rather than at a big box (which didn't have them then anyway).

But I see Menard's has 12' sticks for $3.15 each, which is $0.26/ft, and much cheaper than the $1.04/ft in the link above for 8' sticks.
