RE: Daily Bench Shot - Redman - 02-07-2019 Seems a pretty thin veneer. Yeah repair or replace hmm. Repair would require new edging also I guess. Don't know which to do. Availability of materials might be a consideration. RE: Daily Bench Shot - Stwood_ - 02-07-2019 I gave it another shot of poly to see if it would soak in, thinking maybe it was a dry coat. Nope. I have plenty of veneer, so leaning towards veneering over the ply. I don't have much of this cherry plywood left. 4 sheets I think RE: Daily Bench Shot - Redman - 02-07-2019 (02-07-2019, 04:14 PM)Stwood_ Wrote: I gave it another shot of poly to see if it would soak in, thinking maybe it was a dry coat. Nope. Sounds pretty much like veneering over it. The side in the picture (dark area at bottom) looks about the same or is that something else? RE: Daily Bench Shot - Stwood_ - 02-07-2019 That's the bottom of the cabinet. Yea, same glue marks. Can't get the pic to show. Bottom BRB You can't ignore it because you'll always know and could probably see it. Yeah likely too costly to rebuild, using up your wood and having to replace that, when you have enough veneer. RE: Daily Bench Shot - Stwood_ - 02-07-2019 Yes. Opted to fix as a sheet of cherry is a hundred. I bought 60 sheets about 15 years ago, and it's about gone. Just about enough left to finish my own kitchen, which has been ongoing for.......mmmm I forget. RE: Daily Bench Shot - Rob Young - 02-08-2019 Decided to test out some little abrasive rubber "burrs" I got from eBay. Various diameters so I can fiddle with using them to polish the inside curves on molding plane blades. For example, here are two blades for my No. 50. The larger blade I'll probably never use to cut such a large bead. But the smaller one on top is for a 1/4"-ish bead. Does a nice job. The burrs aren't very abrasive so I smeared on a touch of diamond paste, maybe 20um and went to town. [attachment=16376] Did a nice job, but maybe a bit hard to see as my phone blew out the light colored pine a bit.
