Water Base over Enamel? - Bill Bob - 08-25-2015 Wood trim was painted with enamel some time ago. After using wire brush to remove flakes etc. will a solid color water base paint adhere ok? Thanks, Bill Re: Water Base over Enamel? - JR1 - 08-26-2015 Should be OK but test a small strip to see how well it works before doing a bunch. Make sure to let the waterborne cure completely ~72 hours for most. Re: Water Base over Enamel? - jteneyck - 08-26-2015 After your brush or sand it, I would wipe it with liquid deglosser before painting. It helps with adhesion of the new paint. John |
