Coat Rack - Scoony - 12-25-2015

Need a coat rack for the office. I had a 2x2 stick of walnut sitting around for a few years waiting on the right project. Designed this on the fly and the base was dimensioned off what I felt was minimum width and the pieces of scrap walnut in my scrap stash.

This is a combo of power and hand tool.

The staff on there is the cut off from the actual staff (laying on the bench. I used this one as a test.

Not sure if I am going to leave the bottom flat, or arch it a little.

My vote is to arch it. Looking good so far, keep up the good work.

Merry Christmas

There's something really satisfying about this photo.

Arch it. Only a little though. Less is more I think in this instance.

A slight arch it will get.

I had to practice carving a lambs tongue to transition from the square to the beveled corners.

Looking good! (I like the slight arch idea also).

Nice joinery and agreed on the arch. How tall will it be when finished?
Merry Christmas!

Finished this up and brought it into work.

Finished with Minwax Antique oil, garnet shellac, and wax. Hangers came from Hobby Lobby.

Nice job on the lamb's tongues. The whole project looks sharp!
