Truing a 6" felt buffing wheel - Sawdustd - 01-22-2016

Yesterday I mounted the wheel on my high speed grinder -- for the first time in years. While applying green oxide wax, I noticed that the wheel was out of round, maybe 1/16" or less in places.
Question: what's the best tool to true up the wheel?

Thanks - Dave

I don't think that small amount would be a problem. And it should wear itself in round the first time you use it.

Take some coarse sandpaper and wrap it around a block, then use that to true the wheel while it's turning at high speed. Be very careful to hold on to that block and watch where it's contacting the wheel, lest your grip loosens.
