Brusso hinge substitute? - Aram - 01-24-2016

I made a box and cut mortises for these Brusso box hinges.

Item D here

The box was reassigned from desk to garage duty. I don't want to waste Brussos on it. Is there a less expensive drop-in replacement? I can live without stops if I have to.

Thanks.

How about these? web page Both Rockler and Woodcraft carry an economy line of hinges that are not to bad. They are not solid brass and will be a lot thinner than the hinge you will be replacing but you should be able to find something close as far as overall size. I have a bunch of them that I use for various things around the shop.

Thanks, Dave. I guess thinner is ok -- I can always shim underneath. Probably the right way to go. Appreciate it.

The Brusso hinges are really thick. I think you will be hard pressed to find another hinge that thick in an economy hinge. Here is the one I usually buy web page

I forgot about the Horton hinges. They are really nice hinges. If you have a business and set up a trade account you will get a substantial discount. It is close to %50. I think my cost on those is about $6.
