Wash Coat Paint - AgGEM - 02-03-2016 I have never tried this. A dark bluish green over barn red. The paints are latex flat. I want to see the red under the blue/green. Am thinking I will need to thin the top coat just a little. Brush application - Edit to add. Any advice? Re: Wash Coat Paint - Scoony - 02-04-2016 I would also think about a sealer between colors such as lacquer or shellac just to keep the colors from bleeding. Re: Wash Coat Paint - AgGEM - 02-04-2016 Well,I went forward. Really no different than the expected results from one coat of paint color on top of another. I did use a spray dispenser with water to dash the brush and keep the paint on the thin side. I got the results I was looking for. Ag Re: Wash Coat Paint - Scoony - 02-04-2016 Thats good to know. I have done a few pieces with a distressed finish. Some I liked, some did not turn out the way I wanted. Nice thing about distressed finishes, if you mess it up, stripping and redoing can actually add to the effect. Re: Wash Coat Paint - AgGEM - 02-04-2016 It is funny that I did not know that I was seeking a distressed look until I saw the results, and said, "yep, it looks old". Good too, as my handiwork ain't so great...... Thanks Scoony! Ag |
