Another retrofit is a vortex cone. Some folks were using a cheap wok instead of rolling your own.

The cone doesn't work as well. And I'm not the only guy saying that, this guy built a cone and found that the debris below the cone was still spinning too quickly:

So he modified the shape with a brim to make it more like my baffle.

So if someone is going to go through the trouble of making something, a cone is sub-optimum.

BTW, cones were among the first shapes I tried. I was purchasing all sorts of giant funnels and my wife looked at my like I was absolutely nuts.
