Tool Porn - cputnam - 04-02-2016

When I ordered this plane in early January I asked that LN have "someone who knew what they were doing" examine the plane because fixing it after engraving could be difficult. When the plane arrived at Cloudy's she asked me what to do about the signature block. Didn't really dawn on me until I had the plane in my hands that Sir Thomas himself had inspected and then signed it. I am honored and humbled. Thank you very much Thomas Lie-Nielsen.

Check out Cloudy's wonderful work. It is exquisite.

BTW, the plane is a gift for my son - he got it yesterday.

You could get arrested for that plane in certain cities. That is just lovely sensuous.

That is BEAUTIFUL.

Your son's son will treasure that as he passes it to his son. Very beautiful! Very thoughtful gift. Be proud.

Gorgeous plane. Cloudy does some amazing work.

So did thomas sign the plane itself? If so, where?

Well done Curt, and everyone involved. Just beautiful.

Yes, Thomas signed it - along the left (port) side tail. It's faint but there in the right light.

You're a generous father! That's stunning. If he doesn't appreciate how special that is, give him my address.

Now the real question - where's the picture of the one you got for yourself?

Funny you should ask Steve, it's a little bit of a story. A couple years ago my wonderful wife bought me a bronze number four for Christmas. A Christmas later she asked if I would like to have Cloudy engrave my plane. I thought about it long and hard and eventually demurred. I even discussed the idea with my son to seeing what he thought. I opted to buy some different tools rather than the bling. Now that I've seen the bling up close and personal I'm not so sure that it was a good decision. Catherine does superb work. We opted to buy this for my son, apropos of nothing, just because stuff happens. This will help him to remember me.
