Saw handle templates - MauleSkinner - 04-03-2016 I've got this Master Mechanic back saw that I bought twenty-something years ago. Yeah, it sucked! It was also the first saw that I reshaped teeth and sharpened a few years back, and it actually cuts quite well. The problem, which I'm sure you can see, is the handle is very uncomfortable. A search for saw handle templates brings up lots of stuff...what would be appropriate for this saw? It's got a 14" plate, and about 3 1/2" depth of cut. Thanks! Re: Saw handle templates - enjuneer - 04-03-2016 Isaac Smith at Blackburn Tools also has saw handle templates available online. He has even developed difference sizes of each handle style to fit large or small hands. Re: Saw handle templates - Bibliophile 13 - 04-03-2016 Yeah, there are a lot of choices, aren't there? I would start with the simpler Disston patterns for the length of saw you have. They're comfortable designs, and they're not too complicated to make. Re: Saw handle templates - MauleSkinner - 04-03-2016 Thanks Dom...I'll give that a try. Re: Saw handle templates - Blacky's Boy - 04-04-2016 MauleSkinner said: That's Steve,.....I'm Dominic! Re: Saw handle templates - MauleSkinner - 04-05-2016 Sorry to both of you! Guess I only looked at the color on the screen name, and didn't read. |
