Router for Circle Jig - Cecil - 04-23-2016
I am going to make a circle jig. Previously I used a 2.25 HP router for making circles. Now that trim routers have plunge bases, I am thinking of using that for a circle jig. I will almost always use a 1/4" upcut spiral bit in the jig, for any through hole. Also, 3/4" stock is cut in several passes. Therefore, I am thinking my 1.25 HP trim router will be good to use for this. The smaller router is easier to handle, at least when it comes to tight circles. The only concern I have is the small size of the motor.
I have the Dewalt DWP611PK
Any opinions, good or bad? Thanks.

No problem as you have laid it out.
Would, however, make a templet rather than make the circle
on the work itself.

That's plenty of HP for a 1/4" diameter bit. Have at it.

No problem with your set up as described.
And if you can make a perfect template, why not just make the part??
