small maple vase - Steve K - 04-30-2016

About 5" tall and around 3.5" major diameter. Appreciate all comments and/or critiques. Two pictures, one of a basket weave form I was trying to mimic the weave of, and the other, my result

The ring on top looks like a reed and the rest well it looks swell.

Thanks to all!
It is turned, burned, and pierced, and then burned some more. It's my first real effort at doing any piercing so there are some issues that will get better with practice. Still, I'm pleased with the over all effect.

Woodhead;

Hard to say but it goes faster than you might think. The pattern is pretty quick to draw and the burning is mostly all straight lines.
