Design/Drafting Question - MsNomer - 05-01-2016 I have an irregular border with inside and outside curves with 1" to 3" radii. I need to draw a parallel line 1" inside this border. Compass only works if it is exactly perpendicular to the edge, which I am unable to do reliably. There must be a way that I'm missing. Re: Design/Drafting Question - Phil S. - 05-01-2016 Seems like you could make a 1" radius disk with a small hole in the center for a pencil and use it to draw your line, rolling it along the edge of your template. Re: Design/Drafting Question - MsNomer - 05-01-2016 Done that quick. Cut a hole with a 2 1/8" hole saw and use the core. Pencil fits nicely in the bit hole. Thanks! Re: Design/Drafting Question - Steve N - 05-01-2016 They even make a tool that does the same thing Home made type is cheaper, just as accurate, and you can size the circles to the job. |
