Interesting find at a yard sale - SteveF - 05-01-2016 I bought a small box of bits at a yard sale yesterday. Today, I'm going through the box. There's 24 of the same size bit, NOS. All F.Walter, England and approximately 3/32". Nineteen have the rounded cutting tip and five have the cutting lip (sorry, don't know the proper terminology). ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Interesting find at a yard sale - Admiral - 05-01-2016 Looks like "fluted" tip bits; old school, like the Yankee push drills. Very cool. Re: Interesting find at a yard sale - SteveF - 05-01-2016 Admiral said: No, more like spoon bits. Re: Interesting find at a yard sale - JClark - 05-01-2016 The ones without the lip are shell bits. The ones with the lip are nosing bits. Those are an awesome find. Congrats! Re: Interesting find at a yard sale - rschissler - 05-02-2016 OK, excuse my ignorance, but what do you do with them? ![]() Re: Interesting find at a yard sale - Tony Z - 05-02-2016 Well, larger ones are used in your brace to drill holes for chair making-think starting a hole at 15 degrees off vertical, easy to do with a spoon bit. Re: Interesting find at a yard sale - Bill_Houghton - 05-02-2016 I'm always intrigued when I run into small bits designed to go in braces. |
