Cove cutting on a table saw, revisited - Cecil - 05-15-2016 I have often wondered if a molding head on the table saw, with a bit like this would work for cove cutting. It has a smaller radius than the 10" saw blade, which would affect the size of the cove. However, I like the idea of the blade approaching the wood at an angle. I don't believe this would work for off set coves (with the TS arbor tilted). A different profile may work for that though. One would still need to take shallow cuts. Has anyone used a molding head to make coves? Thanks. Re: Cove cutting on a table saw, revisited - JGrout - 05-15-2016 yes but this is the cutter I prefer edit to add: this cutter will work on angled heads as well Re: Cove cutting on a table saw, revisited - MKepke - 05-15-2016 What he said. My Sears molding head equipped with a thumbnail knife-set is my preferred tooling for cutting cove molding. -Mark Re: Cove cutting on a table saw, revisited - Paul K. Murphy - 05-15-2016 I'm with JGrout. That bullnose will get the job done. Re: Cove cutting on a table saw, revisited - Cecil - 05-16-2016 Thanks. I will give it a try |
