Blast Gates - AgGEM - 09-19-2016

Please recommend a good gate for 2" PVC plumbing. Shopvac prime mover with Dust Deputy.
Gates will be inside a cabinet so I need to be able to attach a push - pull rod to them.
Happy to make my own too.

I would try one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T1002VPM-Bladex-Waste-Handle/dp/B000BGHY3E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474295189&sr=8-1&keywords=2%22+RV+waste+valve
You can attach a longer pull rod if you need more length.

Those are nice. I was thinking it was a good price at first, but you have to add two flanges to them which does bring the cost up.

Blast gates are something that guys can easily make themselves. If I only needed just a few, I would probably buy them. If I needed a bunch of them, I would setup jigs and fixtures to help produce them and make a large batch of them. More than I currently needed to have some spares or for future needs. Lots of different materials and designs available.

If you go that route I recommend you use a full port valve.  Here's one example, http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200336735_200336735

What would be wrong with a regular 2" PVC ball valve?  It's opens up fully, or at least as big as the inside of 2" PVC pipe.

$6 at the BORG. May have to make your own extension for the handle.

Nothing wrong with those either, but for something this small, it is hard to argue against these.

They are 2.5", but I would think a 2" will fit just inside with  a gasket. What is the nominal size for 2" pvc? It's actually bigger, right?

RE: Blast Gates - EdL - 09-20-2016

I'm with Lee, if the 2" aren't the "full flow" type, get 2 1/2 and bush it down.
