Search instead for triple outlet or 3 outlet extension cord.

I took a 12ga 100' extension cord, cut it in half, then used the boxes like you did.

I used the steel boxes with brackets to wire my workbench.  I use the larger holes on the brackets (5/16" I think) with nuts and bolts to hold the boxes to the bench.

I repurposed 12-gauge extension cords I found at a rummage sale, lopping the receptacle ends off.

Then in truly lazy/cheap fashion, I grabbed some plates that were already wired with double duplexes.  They were factory wired, believe it or not.  They were being replaced with new receptacles that "featured" those child safety things.

I asked the electrician that was doing the work if I could grab a few, "sure!"

The Lever Nuts from Wago are rated for finely stranded cable to 12-gauge, so they make for a good interface between the extension cord to the solid conductors with which the receptacles were wired.

The steel boxes are very sturdy.

I was told by someone that the steel boxes on the ends of a cord will get you dinged during Osha jobsite inspections.  Osha never visits my basement, though.

Thanks for all the ideas, guys. I've pretty much given up on the idea of a triple tap replacement. Can't find them anywhere.

I'm not going to buy an extension cord, just to cut off the head and put it on my own cord. I might as well just keep it together and use it. Buying a super short one and using my longer wire might work, but I don't want it just held together with tape.

I'll just use the double box and wire it with a couple outlets. That'll work.

Thanks again.

Here is an extension cord with an outlet box mounted to my ts. Table saw plugs into it, and blade changing wrenches hang next to it. Makes it easy to unplug, when changing blades. Saw plug has a short wire attached to it, so plug doesn't drop when unplugged.
Nice to have the extra outlets there when needed.

Don't give up just yet.  Call Kwik-Lok and ask them if they are going to get this thing on the market in time for you:

I have been using their single ends for years and love them.  I wish they would make a matching male end too.

I simply pick up 6 outlet strips at yard sales.  I look at them to be sure they are screwed together.  I toss the 6' cord and put them on the end of my extension code.  I also bypass the switch.  If you need something rated for 20 amps, this will not work.

Except 16ga is pretty light wire.
