A whatsit - Boatman53 - 11-02-2016 Got this awhile ago when I was cleaning out a basement and have no idea what it does. I'm thinking something for leather work but that is just a guess. I'm curious what everyone here thinks. <img src="http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/boatman53/fe9ceea552c9cd4382269f41f0181b47_zpsb3405a86.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo fe9ceea552c9cd4382269f41f0181b47_zpsb3405a86.jpg"/> The initials are 'W&E' <img src="http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/boatman53/7ffdf5d3082018a004ff43ed681b5087_zpsb812e393.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 7ffdf5d3082018a004ff43ed681b5087_zpsb812e393.jpg"/> <img src="http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/boatman53/630157a29ab260c5e948be10e37e80e8_zps5132424f.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 630157a29ab260c5e948be10e37e80e8_zps5132424f.jpg"/> The blade with the cutting edge is uppermost in these two photos. <img src="http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/boatman53/IMG_2055_zpsfbxbzy1w.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2055_zpsfbxbzy1w.jpg"/> <img src="http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/boatman53/IMG_2056_zpszl0cor2v.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2056_zpszl0cor2v.jpg"/> Paging Mr Axehandle! Jim RE: A whatsit - Herb G - 11-02-2016 Looks like a really old window screen spline cutter to me. It's definitely not for leatherwork. RE: A whatsit - Dave Ring - 11-02-2016 A lefthanded can opener? A sheet metal nibbler? RE: A whatsit - hbmcc - 11-02-2016 Spaghetti pasta maker. RE: A whatsit - JimReed@Tallahassee - 11-02-2016 Mr Google says that W&E sales company has made automotive hand tools and fasteners for over 70 years. Perhaps this tool is made for stripping out auto window gaskets. RE: A whatsit - AHill - 11-02-2016 Looks like an adjustable trimming tool / cutter for leather, rugs, or upholstery. Perhaps used in the auto interior trim shops. |
