Is there a standard position for hinges in kitchen type cabinets?

When I bought my Blum mini press, the po had it set for 3" from the top/bottom of the door.

I've never changed it....

Short answer, no. It is typically 3-4 inches from top to bottom.

I have always used 4" from edge of door to center of hinge bore.

What he said.  With the caveat: depending on the height of the door.  i.e.: a door over the fridge that is only 12" high would have hinges much closer to the top & bottom - but again - no specific distance.  i researched it when I was redoing my kitchen and there is no stock answer.
