Leather source? - MichaelS - 11-17-2016 Wasn't sure where to post, so figured this was as good as any - and it's woodworking in a way I recall a fantastic leather source someone referenced on here ages back, but cannot for the life of me remember it. The dealer dealt solely in leather, could handle large or small lots, and had a selection that was stunning (plus the prices were very attractive too.) Looking to do a modern take on a classic leather top desk for work (vs. the slab for a few other reasons.) thanks in advance. michael RE: Leather source? - MichaelS - 11-17-2016 found one of my old bookmark files finally. Tandyleather.com was who I was thinking of. Open to other sources though if any have a favorite. Best, Michael RE: Leather source? - Phil S. - 11-18-2016 I've had good luck getting leather from these guys - http://www.brettunsvillage.com/ If you have a special need send them a note and they can recommend a leather that will work. Good prices and free shipping to the Contiguous 48 states. Phil RE: Leather source? - Cooler - 11-18-2016 If you go on line there are a million places to buy leather. But leather for garments, leather for upholstery, and leather for book binding are all made differently. Book binding leather is designed to be glued down but they use small goat leather and are only about 6 square feet. Hollanders is a good source for bindery materials including leather: http://www.hollanders.com/index.php/bookcloth-leather/goat-leather.html DCT sells leather specific for desktops. I have no experience with them: http://www.dctleathers.com/ Or google "desktop leather": https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=+desk+leather RE: Leather source? - MichaelS - 11-19-2016 Thanks all! michael |
