Walnut table top progress - rick4212 - 12-08-2016
I'm in the process of making a walnut dining room table. This is a picture after rough sanding and putting mineral spirits to get an idea of what the grain will look like. Book matched walnut boards from a large tree that i cut down 2 years ago. 42" x 87" x 1.5". I think the grain came out well. Still have a lot to do to the top but couldn't wait any longer to see what it's going to look like. Doing a mockup of the base to see how it looks with the top so i can finalize the base dimensions and look.

That is an absolutely beautiful table top. Bet its a bear to wrestle around. Trestle legs with stretcher?

Put it through the jointer on one side and hand plane the other side. I have a 12" jointer so was able to do half then turn it around and did the other half.

Wow!! Beautiful bookmatch with all lumber from same tree. Thats the way to go. And no sapwood
