Remote for unswitched pendant light? - Pirate - 01-06-2017 I want to put up a pendant light, where I have an unswitched ceiling box. I can't find a remote switch, with a transmitter that would fit in a elec. box. Has anyone done this? I was thinking of a ceiling fan remote. RE: Remote for unswitched pendant light? - Admiral - 01-06-2017 See if any of these would help.... http://www.dinodirect.com/wireless-transmitter-receiver-module/ RE: Remote for unswitched pendant light? - Cooler - 01-06-2017 How do you turn the light on/off now? RE: Remote for unswitched pendant light? - JimReed@Tallahassee - 01-07-2017 You need a socket that is wireless controlled. I have several and use them in closets. Just unscrew the bulb, screw in the unit, and screw the bulb into the unit. Here is one on Amazon. WIreless socket RE: Remote for unswitched pendant light? - Bob10 - 01-07-2017 Do you know where the power you want to use to supply this pendant comes from? Might be able to run a switch someplace close to being useful I set my closets up on switches like a car door. Open the door switch turns on light. The switchless circuit has a smoke detector on it now. RE: Remote for unswitched pendant light? - Cdshakes - 01-14-2017 take a look at this episode of ask this old house https://www.thisoldhouse.com/watch/ask-toh-workshop-light-switch He installs a receiver, very similar to a ceiling fan receiver up in the light fixture. The wall mounted switch has no wiring, and apparently no batteries. Don't quite understand how a wireless switch sends an rf signal to the receiver without a power source... must be magic! Looks like the receiver is: http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/SectionDisplay.jsp?section=66859&minisite=10251 and the wall switch is: http://www.leviton.com/OA_HTML/SectionDisplay.jsp?section=66871&minisite=10251 Colin RE: Remote for unswitched pendant light? - Roly - 01-14-2017 In the switch specs it lists what voltages are acceptable. One switch requires a neutral the other one does not, but it requires a wired load off of the switch. Then it can operate a receiver on a unswitched source. Roly RE: Remote for unswitched pendant light? - Bob10 - 01-15-2017 You can't add stuff to a circuit with smokes on it. |
