staining bamboo - maswindell - 02-09-2017 I have some laminated 1 x 8 solid bamboo that I want use for a few projects. I have about 8, 8 ft boards. From my web searches it sounds like like there are numerous steps, sand, stain, sand, stain, then apply clear finish. Anybody have trouble using stains on bamboo ? Been out for 2 years and mrs infection after 6 hip surgeries. Still on a walker !! Cheers Mike RE: staining bamboo - Cooler - 02-15-2017 Bamboo is not normally stained. The darker colors you see on bamboo are the result of baking (roasting?) the wood. The more it is roasted the darker it gets. The roasting process affects the mechanical characteristics of bamboo but I forget how. Addendum: Google to the rescue. http://www.doityourself.com/stry/natural-vs-carbonized-bamboo-flooring Officially it is "carbonized" and the darker colors result in a softer surface. |
