10 year smoke detectors - Cecil - 03-20-2017 I am looking for 10 year smoke detectors with wireless interconnect, an preferably location announcement. I have searched Amazon. I can find the 10 year battery smoke detectors, and I can find battery powered smoke detectors with wireless interconnect. However, I cannot find the 10 year version. Does such an item exist? RE: 10 year smoke detectors - Herb G - 03-21-2017 If it does, I haven't seen one. RE: 10 year smoke detectors - JosephP - 03-21-2017 How about a 10 year battery in the alarm of your choice? https://www.amazon.com/ULTRA-smoke-alarm-battery-U9VL-X/dp/B00004W3ZE RE: 10 year smoke detectors - Cecil - 03-21-2017 re: 10yr battery ==> That should work. I just need to test it periodically, as I should anyway. thanks. RE: 10 year smoke detectors - Robert Adams - 03-21-2017 (03-21-2017, 04:43 PM)Cecil Wrote: re: 10yr battery ==> That should work. RE: 10 year smoke detectors - EricU - 03-21-2017 if it wakes me up at two, no deal. I wake up at 3 am almost every night for a trip to the john, so that would be ok RE: 10 year smoke detectors - Herb G - 03-22-2017 (03-21-2017, 05:51 PM)Robert Adams Wrote: No need as it'll llet you know the battery needs replacing at 2 am one morning. Which is exactly what mine did last night. RE: 10 year smoke detectors - JosephP - 03-22-2017 (03-21-2017, 04:43 PM)Cecil Wrote: re: 10yr battery ==> That should work. I put 10 year detectors on a 14' vaulted ceiling because I don't want to mess with them... Smoke detectors should be tested monthly, not necessarily pull the battery, but do a test. The house I just moved out of had wired, interconnected smoke detectors. One was just off the kitchen. Another one was just inside the door, past the outside gas grill. While I did not have a set schedule, they got "tested" often enough. In my new house, I don't have that issue. There are 4 floors (basement, 2 floors and finished attic), plus an attached garage. I will need to intentionally push the test button from time to time. Perhaps not the suggested monthly schedule, but at least when the time changes. All of the ceilings are 8 foot, so I can carry a short dowel rod to test. RE: 10 year smoke detectors - JosephP - 03-22-2017 OK...Testing makes sense. I throwing you meant actually remove and check the battery. I can test our high ones with a pole as well... |
