RE: Barn door(s) - GeorgeV - 05-11-2017 I built my barn door using hardware from Southern States, barn door opening is 5 feet wide. RE: Barn door(s) - Carheir - 05-12-2017 Looks great. What are the doors made of? Appreciate the pics RE: Barn door(s) - Steve N - 05-12-2017 The video below shows some build details, also some links to hardware for a sliding barn door. Mostly it has a very strong frame. If you go hinged, GO BIG, or stay home. Most outdoor barn doors are at least a few sheets of ply, with a heavy wooden frame, and I like the crossbuck detail to help keep the ply from curling into a tube. One with Car Siding and a solid frame. RE: Barn door(s) - GeorgeV - 05-12-2017 The door is made of plywood and pine and were originally two independent hinged doors. The opening was made wider to accommodate a bigger tractor and at that time the old doors were mounted to a plywood panel with a piece of lumber between the doors to widen the span to accommodate the wider opening and a sliding barn door track used to open the heavier doors. The original doors are over 40 years old and the new mounting is over 20 years old. RE: Barn door(s) - Lynden - 05-12-2017 I like this website.
