Kitchen make over - Derek Cohen - 05-18-2017

The past few months have been taken up with a kitchen make over. There are two articles on my website.

The first deals with building Shaker doors in Hard Maple, and hand finishing with a water-based poly:

The second article is the completed kitchen:

Great looking kitchen. I'm about to embark on my own "project kitchen". We had the house built in 1998, so the kitchen is aged. We talked about redoing it, LOML died June 2015. So when I get it done I'm thinking I'll get emotional over it.

Thanks for your thread

Jim

Nice job Derek.  Your finish looks pretty darned good for being hand applied.  Why is the bottom drawer front frame and panel while all the others in that cabinet are one piece?  And what product did you use for the backsplash?  I like the look of it.

Hi John

Just got back to this thread.

The backsplash is glass.

The drawers with sold fronts were too narrow for a frame and panel. This is a pretty standard way of building. The other drawers have F&P.
