apple and pear - Pedder - 07-26-2017 In German we say you can't compare apples to pears. Now I've tried. Hop you enjoyed the pics. Cheers Pedder RE: apple and pear - kenl - 07-26-2017 Be interesting to see how they change color as they age in a few years. Lovely. RE: apple and pear - Philip1231 - 07-26-2017 Beautiful work, as always. RE: apple and pear - hbmcc - 07-26-2017 I like them. So, how do you know the difference? Biologically, they should be kissing siblings. ... And, look it from this side of the image. RE: apple and pear - Aram - 07-26-2017 Beautiful as always, Pedder! I love the clean lines. RE: apple and pear - Mike Brady - 07-27-2017 So wonderfully classic in materials and execution. Did the customer specify those? So often we see showy wood or other details on saws. These remind me of the work of another great saw maker, Mike Wenzloff. RE: apple and pear - Pedder - 07-28-2017 Thanks everybody for the kind words. The colors will go to a deeper yellow-brown. The apple has more stripes in it. I didn't use the sapwood of the piece. If, it would be more visible. These saws are made to the wish of the customer. But Ihave to say, I really enjoy working the fruit woods. There is only one wood I like more. Mike, do you happen to know, how MikeW is? The last entry on his page sounds hororfying and it is more than one year old. He didn't answer my last mail so I hope he is fine. In my books he is the Goodfather of us modern boutique saw maker Never meet a nicer guy (though I never met him in flesh.) Cheers Pedder RE: apple and pear - Cloudy - 07-28-2017 You proved "them" wrong! Just lovely! RE: apple and pear - RonB1957 - 07-28-2017 Beautiful as always, indeed. My compliments. RE: apple and pear - MattP - 07-29-2017 Very nice. I'm saving my pennies to make a biggish order of wood from a lumber yard back east. Apple and pear are both on my wish list, as is plum--take a look if you're not familiar with it, it's really cool looking, and it's on my list to make a saw handle from (which is why I mention it here). |
