GFCI - Ravenswood Chicago - 07-27-2017 I have an exterior outlet with a GFCI outlet. My couch is blocking the outlet so i plan on cutting an extension cord and wiring a new box/outlet. Basically, i will be building a home-made powerstrip. Question is.... do i need to install a GFCI outlet in the "powerstip"? Or can i use a standard outlet since it will be plugged into the GFCI outlet at the house? Thanks. RE: GFCI - fredhargis - 07-27-2017 If the new powerstrip will be plugged into the GFCI, it will be protected by the GFCI. RE: GFCI - Snipe Hunter - 07-27-2017 Yes, assuming it is grounded through the ground wire to the receptacle. |
