Mahogany Finish - Haryo - 08-01-2017 I'm looking for a finish for an indoor table made of mahogany. I wanted to use an oil, like Watco Danish Oil but I also wanted to fill the grain, like with Behlen's Pore-O-Pac. I don't know which one you use first, I would assume the grain filler. Can you apply oil over grain filler? I usually would use a couple of coats of Danish Oil, or BLO, then a couple of coats of shellac, and finally a top coat or two of poly for protection. Haven't finished a piece in a while and a lot of these products seem to be reformulated now. RE: Mahogany Finish - WoodworkerTom - 08-01-2017 Stain, then seal, then fill pores and top coat last. At least that is how I would do it. I would not rely on Danish oil for my top coat. Perhaps wiping varnish. Great looking table btw. |
